Terms of service
Last updated: May 2026
These terms are a contract between you, the dental practice you represent, and Clin Financial, Inc. By creating a Clin account or using Clin services, you agree to them. If you are signing on behalf of a practice, you represent that you have the authority to bind the practice.
1. Who we are
Clin Financial, Inc. (“Clin,” “we,” “us”) is a Delaware-incorporated financial technology company headquartered in San Francisco. We are not a bank. Banking and card services are provided by our partner financial institutions, which are clearly disclosed in your account agreement at sign-up.
2. Eligibility
Clin is offered to U.S.-based dental practices. To open an account, your practice must be a properly formed legal entity in good standing, have at least one licensed dentist as an owner or named provider, and pass the identity-verification and Customer Identification Program checks our partner banks require under the Bank Secrecy Act. Sole-proprietor and DSO-affiliated practices are both supported. Practices that are not yet open but have a confirmed lease or buildout are eligible for the pre-launch waitlist.
3. Banking services
Deposits in Clin Checking and Clin Reserve are held by our partner banks, are FDIC-insured up to the standard limit per depositor, per insured bank, and may be swept across a network of program banks for extended FDIC coverage as described in your sweep program disclosure. Clin itself does not hold deposits and does not lend against them. Yield on Clin Reserve is set by the partner bank and may change at any time with 30 days' notice.
4. Card issuance
The Clin Rewards Card is a Mastercard commercial credit or debit card issued by our partner issuer pursuant to a license from Mastercard International. The cardholder agreement, including APR, fees, and dispute rights, is presented in full at the time you accept a card. Rewards points are earned on settled transactions, are not redeemable for cash unless explicitly offered, and expire only if the account is closed or inactive for 24 consecutive months.
5. Fees and rates during beta
For practices admitted to the private beta, there are no monthly account fees, no card fees, and no minimum balance requirements. Patient payment processing on ClinPay is billed at our published rate (currently 2.5% + $0.30 for cards present, 2.9% + $0.30 for cards on file) and shown on every receipt. ACH and incoming wire transfers are free; outbound domestic wires are $15. The full fee schedule lives at joinclin.com/pricing and is updated with 30 days' notice for any increase.
6. Prohibited use
You agree not to use Clin to process payments unrelated to a licensed dental practice, to circumvent anti-money laundering or sanctions controls, to operate as a money services business, or to facilitate any activity that violates federal or state law. Specifically prohibited: cash advances on patient cards, third- party payment aggregation for unrelated entities, and any attempt to disguise the nature of a transaction.
7. Dispute resolution
We would rather solve disputes by talking to you. Email legal@joinclin.com first; we commit to a substantive response within ten business days. If we cannot resolve a dispute that way, you and Clin agree to binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS in San Francisco under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court instead, and either party retains the right to seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual-property matters. Class actions and class-wide arbitration are waived. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing the address above within 30 days of account opening.
8. Termination
You may close your Clin account at any time from Settings → Billing or by emailing support. We will return remaining balances within five business days, less any pending settlements or chargeback reserves. We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe it is being used in violation of these terms, of our partner banks' rules, or of applicable law; in that case we will explain the reason in writing unless legally prohibited from doing so.
